👾 Everything-you-need-to-know Roundup Ed: 61
BUT FIRST... a promise from Milly
👋 Hi! Welcome to ed: 62 of the GW community roundup. Once a month, you get to peek behind the curtain to see what happens inside Generalist World. I hope to give you a feel for the flavour of GW — the kind of amazing conversations and connections that happen every day inside the community! ❤️ This email is hand-curated each week, and is never automated.
Before we dive in, I want to start with a promise to you. Our inboxes are too crowded. It became too easy to launch newsletters. Too cheap to create AI-generated content. Recommendation engines are getting sneakier, meaning we sign up to more things than we realize.
Simultaneously, there’s so much heavy stuff happening in the world. We don’t need more noise, we need more more respect for each other’s digital bandwidth.
SO — my promise to you. I will be meticulous in deciding what lands in your inbox. I won’t write for writing’s sake, or post because it’s ‘time’. My emphasis will be on quality. Keeping things as brief and direct as I can (ofc, with the GW personality though 😉).
Every email you open from me will have gone through a process of stepping back, critically judging how this can be valuable for you, and only then, clicking send.
With that said, let’s get to it 💃

R is up this week with his async AMA! He’s a social and work & organizational psychologist, who loves to combine philosophy, psychology and communication theory as a basis. Go on, ask ahead and ask him anything…
K raises a point about Interdisciplinary Education. Chime in (and check out the London Interdisciplinary School)
Ever thought, goshhhhh there really should be a podcast just for generalists? Today is your lucky day.
👋 Say hi
Meet our new members who have said ‘hello!’ in the past week
Meet N: I have driven taxis in London, trucks in East Africa, and a van around Europe. Worked as a foam chemist, data analyst, and spent years in the homeless field. Studied construction, agriculture, and sound engineering. Dabbled with improvisation, singing, being a volunteer police officer, and organising hundreds of staff at festivals! I don’t see myself as the sum of my experiences. Rather my experiences reflect who I am, and who I will be (someone bookmark this!!! 😍)
Meet B: After completing my MBA, I honed my analytical and investment management skills and accepted a position as investment director in a Latin American PE Fund. Aside from my role as an Sr.Associate at VU Venture Partners, I am also a Venture Analyst for New World Angels, a Founding Investor of Sweater Fund, a Startup Advisor.
Meet M: I was originally on a specialist career path in the software space, but about 8 years ago I discovered a passion for building SaaS products / businesses and realized if I wanted to grow in that area, I needed to jump off the local career bus. I turned down a CPO position at a local enterprise tech company, and switched to working fully remote as a mobile apps developer for international SaaS companies - to learn from the inside as it were. I'm still in searching for "my tribe" where I can collaborate with like-minded creatives, combining my skills for software, people and business development. (woohoo, you found us! 😍)
Meet K: Talk to me about: Getting the best out of people - as a Maximizer and a Woo (Clifton Strengths). I have a unique ability to quickly understand other's strengths and help them grow! Building better future - for both individuals and organisations - using my Ideation, Futuristic and Input (Clifton Strengths) strengths I am able to create data-driven plans, and create strategies that work!

S asks: Is anyone good at running LinkedIn ads? I've been asked to improve our stuff and I'm stuck, would love to learn from some experts on budgeting, building better-performing audiences, etc
M asks: I need to consider my options for applications that will allow me to send a contract or MOU and have a client sign in and send it back. I don’t want them to print it, I want them to sign it digitally. I don’t use do this often enough to justify the cost of DocuSign. Are there other options people like?
L asks: Anybody have any experience with fundraising from VCs? I've fundraised multiple times, but it's been a while.
I'd love to get someone to review my latest deck if anyone's got any time and space!
Y asks: I want to fill spread the word about the benefits of communities to the outer world so Community becomes as well-known as Marketing, Sales, Customer Support, etc. What would you like to know about the business side of community or how to benefit from being a member of the specific community?
